This Martin D-35 bursts with harmonic complexity. This guitar is in great condition and comes with a K&K pickup already installed. The shimmer, depth and brilliance of sound is staggering, so much so that even just a single note is interesting to listen to. The warmth of the rosewood back and sides coupled with the snap of the ebony fretboard interact well with the dreadnought shaped body to provide a deep and powerful sound that won’t get muddy in a full band mix. Open position chords blend together beautifully without sacrificing the identity of each note, and fingerpicking reveals the instrument’s natural sensitivity. Lean into it with a flatpick, though, and the body wakes up and gives it right back to you. The neck is comfortable in every register, and the intonation is spot on. It’s not a cheap guitar, but it’s very reasonably priced given the quality and aesthetic appointments of this axe. This is for the player looking for a lush-toned, high-end dreadnought that’ll sound great and play wonderfully as well as looking spectacular for decades to come.
